Biskit Eatin' Contest:
It usually takes ten or more to win and the girls can give the boys a
run for their money. The sopping starts at noon on Saturdays and Sundays. This event is a real show. You must be 16 years or older to
enter.
Pole Climbin':
Different age groups try for prizes on the pole. The highest and
quickest wins the event.
Log Sawin':
All comers try to be the fastest to cross-cut a log. The ladies may
enter too!
Rock Throwin':
Contestants wind up and heave it - best throw wins a prize on Saturday
and Sunday.
Baccur Spittin':
After taking a big chaw of 'baccur, it's time for the contestants to see
who can launch their spit the furthest - best distance wins the
event.
Horseshoe Throwin':
Take aim and go for the ringer on Saturday and Sunday in Fort Sorghum.
Distance Wins:
Syrup lovers travel from far and wide to attend the Sorghum Festival.
Each day following the "Biskit" Eatin' Contest, the person traveling the
greatest distance from their home to attend the Festival is awarded a
trophy.
Old Folks Win:
Every day just after the "Bisket" Eatin' Contest, the oldest person
attending is recognized and awarded a prize. Some days the young 70's
win - on other days it takes 88 to win. Some 90 year olds come.
